The Arts and Humanities Council and the SWLA Convention & Visitors Bureau will present Arts & Crabs Fest 2017 on Saturday August 19, from 5-8PM, at the Burton Coliseum. This will mark the festival’s 8th year as a multi-sensory experience of Southwest Louisiana cuisine, music, and art, with a tasting of local crab dishes and Louisiana craft brews at its center.
Named a “Top 20 Event” five years in a row by the Southeast Tourism Society, Arts & Crabs Fest is a dynamic celebration of our delicious food and vibrant culture.
The Arts Council is proud to announce the lineup of culinary talents scheduled for Arts & Crabs Fest 2017!
Participating chefs will include but are not limited to:

- Blue Dog Café – Corn & Crab Bisque
- Dat Truck Elevated Food Truck – Crabmeat Ravioli Ravigote
- Hi-Licious Street Kitchen – Pork & Crab Soup Dumpling Mini-Bun
- Kiss the Cook Catering – “Petit Doigts” (Sauteed Crab Fingers)
- Luna Bar & Grill – Galactic Crab Dip
- On-Go-Mex – Caribbean Crab Tostada
- Paul’s Rib Shack – Surf & Turf Smoked Crab Mac-N-Cheese
- PJ’s Coffee – Crab & Tasso Cheesecake
- Rikenjak’s – Crab Oscar Styled Donut
- Roly Poly – Shrimp & Corn Bisque
- The Velvet Pig – Crab, Spinach & Mushroom Stuffed Pastry
Each chef prepares a unique crab or shellfish dish representative of their cuisine’s styles, and a diverse selection of Louisiana craft brews from Crying Eagle Brewing will act as complementary offerings to all dishes.
A culinary battle will take place with the public voting for their favorite chef, and the winner taking bragging rights for the year, along with an original mosaic piece created by local artist Natalie LeBleu, winner of this year’s “Best Crab Dish” art contest.
Arts & Crabs Fest 2017 also showcases live Cajun music from Nee de Traditionne, as well as an interactive art market featuring the creative talents of many Louisiana artisans like Danny Allain (Pigment of Your Imagination), Hannah Gumbo, Tracy LeMieux (The Art Factory), K. Petty Prints, Nicole Surface Design & Illustration, Debbie Wilfer Pottery, Morgan Allain (The Inkling Girl), Bon veiller, cher, Jewels by Trish, JM Jewelry Designs, Cajun Moon Jewelry & Gifts, Richarda Mesh, Pelican Sunsets by K Ford, Daneisha Davis (Pixel & Ink Creative), Carolyn Sharp’s Thread Painting, Snake and Monkey Studios, Vibrance Jewelry, Lyd Walls Art, Wehner GLASS, and The Whimsical Banana.
A live auction featuring items and services donated by many area businesses and organizations will take place at 6:30pm, with auctioneer Phil de Albuquerque. Silent auction items and a raffle featuring 20 unique art pieces will also be available.
