National Wildlife Refuge 2017-18 Hunting Regulations Permit Available On-Line
The 2017-18 Southwest Louisiana National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Complex Hunting Regulation Permit is now available to download and print from our websites at:
by clicking on the ‘About the Refuge’ link, then the ‘Publications’ link, then scroll down to the section titled Southwest Louisiana Hunting Permit and click on the blue highlighted text Southwest Louisiana Hunting Permit , which will pull up the regulations which can then be printed, read, and signed.
Regulation awareness prior to entering and hunting on Sabine, Lacassine and Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuges is very important to remain safe and legal while hunting or traversing the refuges. In an effort to reduce safety violations due to non-compliance with published hunt regulations, the 2017-18 the hard copy Regulation Permit brochures will not be available from waterfowl hunt access areas at Sabine Refuge recreation areas again this year, requiring hunters to obtain or print them in advance. By obtaining the regulation permit brochure before entering the refuge, hunters have more time to familiarize themselves with the regulations prior to entering the refuge.
In addition to obtaining the regulations on-line, a limited supply of hard copy regulation permit brochures will be available at eleven community distribution sites beginning in September. They may be obtained from Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Visitor Center, Sabine NWR office, Lacassine NWR hunt kiosks on Nature Drive, the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries office in Lake Charles, Academy Sports and Outdoors in Lake Charles, Walmart Sporting Goods section in Sulphur, Cajun Grocery in Hayes, Gary’s Landing in Lowry, Cajun Fast Mart and Fisherman’s Headquarters in Carlyss, and Brown’s Grocery in Hackberry.
September hunt opportunities coming up include: Dove hunting at Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge during the first split of the Louisiana (south zone) dove hunting season (September 2-10) and Teal hunting at Sabine and Lacassine National Wildlife Refuges on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the Louisiana Teal season (September 15-30). Applications for the Cameron Prairie youth and senior lottery waterfowl hunts will be accepted September 1-30. Further instructions including hunt dates will be available at https://www.fws.gov/refuge/cameron_prairie/ under the News Release link by September 1, 2017.
