On Saturday, October 20, ArtsFest returns to engage area children in a free arts festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lake Charles Civic Center’s Exhibition Hall. This event is hosted annually by the Arts Council of SWLA and the City of Lake Charles, and it encourages creative expression through hands-on art projects.
Local businesses and organizations will host booths where children can craft fun and creative pieces of art that educate them on the 2018 theme of “Outer Space!” Children can take home all of their art projects which cover a wide range of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, and crafts while assisted by volunteers in booths sponsored by Sylvan Learning Center, The Little Gym, First Federal Bank of Louisiana, the St. Louis High School Art Club, Nick Reina State Farm, Calcasieu Parish Public Library, The Art Factory, Stage One Hair School, Niche Creative Studio, the McNeese Student Art Association, Heather Boston, the Cowgirl Kickers, and Stine Lumber. Fun art and entertainment is enhanced with fun food, so Domino’s Pizza and Kona Ice will be on site selling snacks.
ArtsFest 2018! will also showcase the wildly popular one-on-one pottery lessons, storytelling and other entertainment.
ArtsFest is sponsored by the City of Lake Charles, the Arts Council of SWLA, Knight Media Printing, ASI Office Systems, Pixel & Ink Creative, Nick Reina State Farm, Image 360, The Art Factory, Stine Lumber, and Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture and Recreation and Tourism.
