Lake Area Ballet Theatre is a ballet company in Lake Charles. Its faculty and board stage full-scale ballet performances, produce new works and support training for the next generation of dancers. The company has a Senior Company and a Junior Company, trained through the upper ballet levels at Lake Charles Dance Academy.
The company has staged The Nutcracker over several seasons at the Rosa Hart Theatre in the Lake Charles Event Center. The 2026 run includes evening and matinee shows, weekday school performances and a shorter sensory-inclusive performance for people with sensory sensitivities or developmental disabilities. Public tickets are sold through Ticketmaster and the Event Center box office. Artistic director Colleen Cannon Benoit also founded Lake Charles Dance Academy. Donations to LABT are tax deductible.
