The short version. You can read this whole site without an account. We store what you give us on purpose, an account, a review, a claim, a correction, and nothing else. There are no advertising trackers, nothing follows you to other sites, and we sell none of it.
What we store when you do something
- An account
- Your email address, and a display name if you set one. The email is how you sign in and how we tell you a claim was decided.
- A review
- Your rating, your words, and the account that wrote them. Reviews are public, including your display name. Removing a review hides it from the site; ask us and we will delete it outright.
- An ownership claim
- What you told us about your connection to the business, so a moderator can decide it. Kept after the decision as the record of why the listing was handed over.
- A report or correction
- What you say is wrong, and an email address only if you choose to leave one so a moderator can ask a follow-up question. Reports can be filed without signing in, and an anonymous report stores no identifier at all.
- A business you manage
- The details you publish are meant to be public. Photos, hours, offers and replies all appear on your listing.
Who else touches it
Running a site means some of this passes through other companies. We use them by category rather than naming our infrastructure here, and each one only ever gets what its job needs:
- Hosting and storage
- Holds the database, your account and uploaded images, and serves the pages. Ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses, are kept for a short period.
- Payment processing
- Handles payment for an Enhanced listing. Card details go to the processor directly and never reach us, we do not see or store a card number at any point.
- Email delivery
- Sends the mail we send you: sign-in links, and notice that a claim or a review affected your listing. Nothing is sent to you for marketing.
- Maps
- Draws the map on a listing page and turns an address into coordinates.
- Visit statistics
- Google Analytics counts which pages are read, how people arrive and roughly where from, so we can tell what is useful. It sets its own cookies on this site. Its advertising features are turned off, and we only ever look at the totals.
None of them is allowed to use your information for their own purposes. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with advertisers. There are no advertisers.
If you need to know exactly which companies these are, because you are assessing us as a vendor, or exercising a data right that requires it, ask and we will tell you.
What you can ask for
Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it. Deleting an account removes your reviews and your claims. It does not remove a business listing, which describes a business rather than you.
You can also change your display name and theme yourself under your account.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. If you believe a child has made one, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, the date at the top changes with it. We will not quietly start collecting something this page does not mention.
