About Lake Charles Dance Academy
Lake Charles Dance Academy is a ballet school on Taimer Lane in Lake Charles, founded in 2011 by director Colleen Cannon Benoit. Classical ballet is the core of the program, taught in levels from Pre-Kinderdance for 4-year-olds and Kinderdance for ages 5 and 6 up through pointe and trainee levels. The director places students in upper levels.
Students can add jazz, hip-hop, tap, contemporary and acro classes, and a weekly adult ballet class runs in six-week sessions. The school year runs from September to May and ends with a recital at the Rosa Hart Theatre. Advanced trainees may be invited into the Lake Area Ballet Theatre companies. The front desk is open weekdays from 4 to 6 p.m.
