About Mardi Gras Museum of Imperial Calcasieu
The Mardi Gras Museum of Imperial Calcasieu covers Southwest Louisiana's Mardi Gras: krewe costumes and headdresses, king cake, the Courir de Mardi Gras and Cajun and Creole traditions. It began as a temporary exhibit at Central School in 1997, and the collection has grown to more than 350 costumes on display. The museum now has its own building at 701 Enterprise Blvd in the Nellie Lutcher Cultural District, near I-10 exit 31A.
Tours are self-guided and take about an hour. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., last entry at 4. Adult admission is $15, with lower prices for seniors, military, students and groups. Parking is free and public areas are wheelchair accessible. The museum has a gift shop and rents space for private parties.
