Rouge et Blanc Wine and Food Festival in Lake Charles Louisiana

Each fall Lake Charles comes alive with one of Southwest Louisiana’s most anticipated cultural events, Rouge et Blanc. Hosted by Banners at McNeese State University, this celebration of food, wine and community brings together wine enthusiasts, local chefs and supporters of arts and culture for an unforgettable afternoon of tasting and fellowship. Rouge et Blanc is a flagship fundraiser for Banners, the arts and humanities program that serves the five-parish area, supporting a broad array of cultural programming, outreach and education throughout the region.

What the Event Is

Rouge et Blanc is an annual outdoor festival focused on premium wine tastings paired with gourmet creations from some of the best regional restaurants and chefs. Wine experts and culinary professionals volunteer their time to make this event a premier celebration of taste and community spirit. The festival is also an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to gather in the scenic McNeese State University Quad for an afternoon of socializing and indulgence.

When and Where

The 2025 Rouge et Blanc Wine and Food Festival is scheduled for October 11, at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, with festivities running from mid-afternoon into the early evening. Participants must be 21 or older to attend, and the event operates rain or shine to ensure a full experience regardless of weather.

What to Expect

Attendees can expect an open-air tasting with unlimited wine samples and small bites designed to showcase local flavors and culinary creativity. Participating chefs in recent years have included well-known establishments such as L’Auberge Casino Resort, Coushatta, Villa Harlequin, Luna’s Bar & Grill and many more, delivering a diverse menu of savory dishes and desserts.

Many guests also view Rouge et Blanc as a chance to expand their wine knowledge, sample new varietals and enjoy the company of fellow food and wine lovers in a relaxed yet refined setting.

Why It Matters

Beyond the pleasure of good food and wine, Rouge et Blanc plays a meaningful role in strengthening the cultural fabric of Southwest Louisiana. Proceeds from the festival directly support Banners at McNeese State University, enabling free or low-cost cultural events, arts education in schools, performances, lectures and partnerships across the community. Without this annual fundraiser, many of these creative experiences and outreach programs would be much harder to sustain.

For Lake Charles residents Rouge et Blanc is more than a festival. It is a celebration of community pride and a tangible way to support the arts, connect with neighbors and enjoy the rich culinary and cultural offerings of the region.
